Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device, 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a gold disc charged with a white demi-column supporting on it's capital a stylized mountain range in green, capped white, against a maroon burst of seven points; attached below a scarlet motto scroll inscribed "PROVIDE AND CONSERVE" in gold letters.

Symbolism
Buff, here displayed as gold, and scarlet are the colors traditionally used by Support units. The support mission is symbolized by the demi-column, bearing a representation of the mountains of Utah, the unit's home state and recalling the spirit of conservation emphasized by the group's motto. Maroon alludes to the Medical Corps, gold to Quartermaster Corps, and the striving for excellence. The sunburst signifies new beginnings and high ideals, the encircling form of the motto indicates unity.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 23 Nov 1999.
